Key Features:

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) selected the AECOM/LBA team to provide complete design services for the Consolidated Communications Center at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. The Communications Center is responsible for monitoring surveillance cameras, fire alarms, and security alarms at National Airport and also dispatching all fire and police services to both National and Dulles Airports. Formerly, the communications center was located in approximately 1,500 SF of space on the first floor of the three-story, 30,000-SF hanger wing. Housing only four consoles, the communications center had outgrown its current space.

AECOM/LBA worked with MWAA to provide ample space for a new Consolidated Communications Center, with room to expand, if necessary. The Communications Center moved to the 10,000-SF second floor, and now includes a Dispatch Area with 11 consoles (expanding to 15, if necessary); an Emergency Operations Center (EOC) with 28 positions; and a support area with a multipurpose room, kitchen, and restrooms.
